Mid-Cheek Lift

The mid-cheek, or midface, is the region between lower eyelids and the mouth. As a result of aging, gravity and repeated muscle contractions, the skin and fat over the mid-cheek gradually descends and sags. This leads to a gaunt appearance with hollow lower eyelids and deep laugh lines.

The mid-cheek lift is a cosmetic procedure that aims to restore volume and establish a youthful contour in the cheeks. It is suitable for patients who complain about prominent laugh lines, drooping of the mouth corners and lateral eyelids, and flatness over the malar areas.

Dr Leo uses two methods to perform mid-cheek lifts:

Endotine midface lift

For patients who desire a longer lasting procedure, the Endotine midface lift is the procedure of choice.

An endotine is an absorbable implant that is used in various facial rejuvenation operations to secure tissues. It is usually employed as an alternative for sutures. Endotine implants resorb after 1-2 years, though its effects can last up to 5-7 years.

In an Endotine midface lift, incisions are made behind the hairline and into the mid-cheek. An endoscope is used for accurate visualization as the endotine implant is positioned and the midface region is lifted. The procedure is performed under IV sedation.

The incisions are then closed with sutures, which will be subsequently removed after 1-2 weeks. Patients can expect a downtime of around 1-2 weeks.

Thread lift

For patients who prefer a less invasive option for a mid-cheek lift, thread lifts are ideal alternatives. This procedure does away with implants and uses specially placed sutures to subtly add lift to the midface area. It can be performed under local anesthesia.

Threads usually dissolve after a year, with results lasting for 1-2 years. Downtime is around 2-7 days.
