A buttock lift, commonly known as a Brazilian butt lift, is a procedure to tighten loose skin
from the buttocks, as well as enhance its shape, fullness and contour. Simply put, it allows the
patient to achieve shapely, perky buttocks via a simple day surgery.
An ideal candidate for a Brazilian butt lift is one who has sufficient unwanted fat in his/her
tummy, back or thighs. As a simple rule, the patient should have at least 2 to 3 times the
amount of unwanted fat to the amount of injected fat for ideal results.
The Fat Transfer Method
A buttock lift with augmentation is best achieved with fat injection. With this method, stubborn
fats from the arms, tummy or thighs are harvested via liposuction and purified. The processed
fats are then injected into the buttocks, commonly at the upper quadrant to achieve the optimal
shape and roundness that is perfect for bikinis.
The fat transfer method is well-known for addressing multiple, problematic areas of the body at
the same time. It improves the body’s overall contour and proportions by first removing stubborn
fats from other areas of the body, and repurposing them to enhance the shape and fullness of the
buttocks.
Risk & Complications
Risks of the procedure includes a very small risk of stroke and heart attack. Standard risks of
surgery including bleeding, infection and scarring. However, these are all rare in the hands of
an experienced surgeon.
Post-Buttock Lift Recovery
A buttock lift takes around 1.5 hours to complete and is usually done under general anesthesia
or intravenous sedation. Swelling and bruising after the procedure are normal and should last
for around 1-2 weeks. Pressure garments may be worn for 6 weeks to reduce swelling and
accelerate the healing process.
